It's hard to believe we are in 2022 and the AS400 IBM mid-range offering from 1988 is still re-inventing itself for the modern age. Now called the IBMi, the AS400 has gone through many re- badging exercises, the question often asked is why would anyone invest in old technology? At 1st sight this maybe the case, yet, whichever way technology goes, the AS400 is not far behind. But how can this be? What is the secret behind the longevity of the AS400 ? The secret is the Technology Independent Machine Interface or TIMI for short. In the next instalment of this Blog, I will be explaining how TIMI works.
